Stamford Bridge is a large village with a population of around 3,500 on the River Derwent in the East Riding of Yorkshire, approximately 9 miles to the East of York.

The Village of Stamford Bridge provides a wide range of services and good sporting/leisure facilities for its residents of all ages.

Stamford Bridge is also famous for the Battle which took place on September 25 1066, when King Harold Godwinson of England defeated King Harald Hardrada, and then was defeated himself by William the Conqueror at Hastings. The Stamford Bridge battle was generally considered to mark the end of the Viking era.
