Welcome to the new Parish Council Website – Launched 13 September 2023
Government Support to Consumers with their Energy Costs
The Government has committed to providing support to consumers with their energy costs this winter. This support is already being made available via the Energy Bills Support Scheme (EBSS) and the Energy Price Guarantee (EPG) for households, and the Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) for businesses. In addition, the Government has announced the Alternative Fuel Payment (AFP) to support households that use fuels other than gas to heat their homes.
The Government has also advised it will provide support to non-domestic customers who use alternative fuels, such as heating oil. Council Officers are due to attend a webinar on 6 December 2022 with a view to understanding the requirements of the Council and the support available to customers.
In addition to this, the Department for Work and Pensions have provided councils with Household Support Funding to support vulnerable households with rising energy costs. A portion of this funding has been allocated to Humber & Wolds Rural Action who will provide low-income families with help towards the cost of alternative fuel. I understand they are in the process of setting up their scheme and more information will be available Rural Energy | HWRCC in due course.
